Resumo: As doenças peri-implantares são definidas como reações inflamatórias patológicas no tecido que envolve o implante osteointegrado. São classificadas em duas categorias:
Mucosite – definida como inflamação dos tecidos moles peri-implantares e peri-implantite – perda óssea na região peri-implantar.
É apresentado um caso clínico de uma paciente do sexo feminino de 64 anos com um implante na posição anatómica de 2.4 e um follow-up de cinco anos. Observou-se uma profundidade de sondagem de 6mm e um defeito ósseo de 40% do comprimento do implante observado radiograficamente.
